Remarks:

The lecture will be held as a Project Lecture (Lecture with Project character). The couse is assigned to the module MMTECH. It, however, can be accepted as a substitute for the module "Kommunikation und Netze (KuN)" in the winter term 2009/2010, if a seperate application has been filed. 

Goals & acquired skills:

• Skills in team work, project work and milestone-based work 
• In particular responsibility, leadership, delegation, arrangement of tasks in a team
• Practical experience in multimedia-based systems and application of recent research results in their application by conducting a project with respect to multimedia-technology (Video, Audio incl. Sound, 3D, multimedia system components)
• Elaboration and compliance with success- and quality criteria 

Contents:

• Aspects of Project Management and Team Work 
• Introduction to Multmedia and Multimedia Systems 
• Picture, Video and Audio: from the analog/digital conversion to the compression 
• Selected Multimedia applications 
• Slides of the lectures on October 15th and 22nd

Projects:

• CARAudio - Audio (and Video) for speaker identification in automotive environments 
• GPSGuide - Extension of the application "Guide-IT" for mobile phones to include GPS-data [will be accepted for the Module "KuN", if a seperate application has been filed]
• RFIDVulnerabilities - Security evaluation of RFID-systems [will be accepted for the Module "KuN", if a seperate application has been filed]
• VRRobi - Multimedia visualisation of security aspects, -warnings in VR
• BLUECert - Bluetooth using certified devices [will be accepted for the Module "KuN", if a seperate application has been filed]
• CAMIdent - Improvement of an application to identify a camera

Angaben:

• Diplom: 4 SWS = 56h attendance + 94h independent work
• Bachelor (CSE, CV, IF, WIF): 5 Credit points
• Master (DKE): 6 Credit points
